Not entirely sure when this showed up, but I know its been here for a few years.
The statue is set back on private property on Victory Boulevard and Lindley Ave in Reseda, but it is an unmistakable icon in a sea of green grass and suburban sprawl.
The sign associates it with the service of a psychic, but the connection is lost to me. It's said that some of the monks could develop psychic powers as a result of their meditation because it becomes "concentrated,
purified, cleansed, unblemished, free from impurities, malleable,
workable and firm," making them capable of extraordinary
abilities.
Some psychic powers that developed included the ability to change appearance, being able
to sense what was happening a great distance away, mind reading and out of body travel.
Maybe that's why the Golden Buddha of Reseda is here.
